Take your ATM card and get money out of ATM machines as and when you need it.......
I'll add my support to AuntieBertie's answer.

Hardly anyone uses travellers' cheques these days. You get a much better exchange rate, more security and greater convenience by simply using your debit or credit card at any 'bancomat'.

If you're one of the few people who doesn't have a cash card, I'd recommend taking travellers' cheques in Euros.

Chris

I'd take Sterling cheques.

Taking cash out abroad costs a fortune.

In Lanzarote, there will be loads of exchange places competing for your business, so they will change cheques comm. free - Don't change them at hotel.

Ugly Bob needs to change banks. I'm with Abbey and I've used cash machines in many European countries. I've never been charged for withdrawals and I've always received a far better rate of exchange than any bureaux de change.

Chris

Fair enough. Most banks charge you around 3 every time you use a foreign cash machine. Same sort of amount as using a credit card in a cash machine over here.

My experience of the canaries is that you get a better exchange rate over there than the banks will give you here though, so Sterling cheques are still the way forward.
