Thanks 237SJ.
It was really really cool.
Question Author
Haaa! Thanks Douglas. Just as I suspected. :o)
Are you going there just to chill out or P-P-P Pick up a penguin?
Question Author
I suspect both!! :o)
Being in Argentina when the local weather report says that there is a front coming from Antarctica is a bit weird. We are so used to hearing about weather coming from the Arctic and Antarctica sounds so far away.
It's not a tourist destination. There are no hotels only the research stations.
There are cruises to there though
Question Author
Eddie, I know that.
Cheapest cruise is £4500 pp and that's after you have paid to get to Chile where the cruise starts!

^ sorry £5500
Dash, I thought you may have been planning to stay at the White Desert - only open 5 weeks a year.

Looks stunning.
Well it's not going to be cheap is it? Silversea do cruises there.
Question Author
I don't expect it to be cheap.
Question Author
Mamyalynne, that looks interesting.
I was referring to Eddie's post.
Question Author
Oh, ok. Thanks.
Lots of big adverts in the press for cruises with Hurtigruten, the Norwegian company, which include flights. We went with them up into the Arctic circle and they were very good, I would imagine their Antarctic trips are also good.
the Antarctic is slowly having it's teeth drawn by climate change - but this is probably still one of the best books ever written on the place.....
