Not helped by a load of low key ties the BBC once again for the 40 something time go to Manchester United for their live coverage.Are the FA and the BBC trying to kill interest in this once great competition which,for the big clubs,now seems to be an unwanted distraction.

Yes,the FA Cup is certainly not the prestigious tournament it once was with many top flight clubs viewing the competition as a hindrance. Such are the financial rewards that remaining in the top flight is a must and it is no big deal for any club to lose a cup tie.Some clubs use the FA cup to give a run out to the second string who would otherwise face little chance of breaking into the first team.

Regarding TV coverage,again,the build up and excitement just isn't there particularly on cup final day itself.

The beautiful game has not felt beautiful for many years...
Yes, i wish they could be more adventurous but I think they know that a Man Utd tie will almost certainly pull in more viewers than a game involving two lower division sides. I think another factor may be that the BBC will sell the game on around the world- and the overseas market definitely prefers to see Man Utd, Liverpool etc than Lincoln, Sutton etc
