Whilst driving from Arundel to Dover via Lewes on the A27, we passed a pub called the White ??. It was on a single carriageway road, just before a sharpish right hand bend. It was set back slightly from the road and had a small lake/pond in front of it. I know it's a long shot but does anyone recognise this??

Thanks Mass but that's not the one. It was on the left as we were driving west and it was in the country, possibly just before a village.
You could always have a look on Google Earth - follow the A27 and if you see a small pond near the road change to Street View. Tedious but it may work (I've done it).
If you were travelling from Arundel to Dover you could only travel east .. not west.
The A27 terminates at Pevensey .. which is only about half way between the two towns.
More clues needed I'm afraid.

Sorry - yes, we were travelling east not west! I've spent hours on Google Earth without any luck. I'm beginning to think we imagined it! It could have been after the A27 although we didn't think it was that far.......
The only pub I can think of is 'The Worlds End' at Patching .. it is right next to Patching pond on the old A27.
I know it well Chris ... but it has no pond !
