have just had a rental with the above company. they actually TAKE the excess deposit from your credit card, no alternative if you decline their expensive top up insurance. which we did as we have our own. now we have returned, after more than a week, there has been no refund of this money. we did no damage to the car, and have photos to prove this. I have tried to get in touch with them but they do not answer the phone. I have e-mailed but have, as yet, had no response. I have spoken to the bank to have them put this payment (which is substantial £700), until I have sorted it out. the credit card payment is due soon and I don't feel I should have to pay this when I should be getting it back, although goodness knows when. the bank were less than helpful and I wondered if I was asking for something which is not possible. its not that I didn't authorise the payment, but only authorised it on the basis that I would get it back. I have no documentation from them when I returned the car, there was no-one there to receive it, just park it and drop the keys in a box. I have never had this experience before, every other car hire company I have used before have put a hold on the card, then released it, but didn't actually take any money. is there anyone out there who has had this experience.

Which phone numbers have you tried?

These should all work from the UK:
0870 535 0372
00 34 902 123 002
00 34 964 343 626
(From Spain, the numbers are 902 123 002 & 964 343 626)

they should work, I have tried every number on their website, but it just rings and rings. I will check the list you gave me against the numbers I have to see if any are different. serves me right for booking a cheapo rental company. I will stick with the likes of avis, hertz etc. in future, athough from what I have read some of the national ones don't behave a great deal better.
True about the big companies, Dollar once took 21 days of "insurances" that I'd not been offered, almost $1000, I got it back eventually, but it shows that all the companies can try it on. Did you book directly with this company or through an agent? We' booked through Carhire3000 and they were very helpful in resolving our problem with Dollar.

booked directly. I have got through to someone who basically said yes the refund will go through, but I have no confidence this is going to happen any time soon. the bank told me I have to wait for 15 days for the refund to appear. therefore I will have to pay the bill, and wait for it to come. if it doesn't the bank will get involved, but since I have already paid, I can then hardly dispute the payment and put it on hold. I am less than happy with recordgo, and wouldn't use them again. there was nothing else wrong with the rental the car was fine, and cost was very reasonable. this is the single one thing I hate about them, most of the other companies simply put a hold on the card and even if it takes them a while lease it, at least you have not paid out a load of money. I could just not pay it of course, just pay the minimum, but then get landed with interest charges. not sure which are the biggest rip off merchants, banks or car hire companies!!!
