Hubby is taking me to palma Nova for 2 nights for my 40th...no kids...by the time we arrive we have a day and a half in resort. How much money would you take? No trips and we are self catering. Not great drinkers either. Have been before but as a family of 4 for 7 days.

It depends on your spending habits but I'd just take a small amount in Euros to pay for coffees/bar snacks , the odd bottle of water or bar drink and any taxi/bus costs, tips and small shopping- probably around 100 euros will do- and then pay everything else (meals, shopping) by credit card
Excellent post by ff...but if you are self catering and depending upon where you want to eat, then I would take 200 euros for the bits and bobs as I find that you always need more than you imagine.
Why not get hubby to book bed breakfast and evening meal after all it is a break you are going for and your 40th . Excellent answer from fiction.
Yes sqad- I missed the self-catering bit. However eating out is usually enjoyable so I'd probably eat out even for breakfast but cash may be best for that. So maybe nearer 200Euros.
I just like to avoid coming back with too many unused Euros unless I will be going to Europe again in the near future
or even bed and breakfast and eat out .I have been there and loads of eating places .
If you get time take the train to Soller on the north of the island. Lovely trip through the mountains. From there you can the the tram down to Puerto Soller. Lovely circular natural harbour lined with cafes and bars.
Agree with new judge the Soller Train trip is a lovely day out and catch the bus back to Palma from the Port as it's quicker and there are more of them than trains but I Love Snow doesn't want any trips. I would however go into Magaluf just to have a couple of hours of people watching sat outside the Piano Bar late afternoon before the madness begins. For me no trip to that area would be complete without a visit to the Piano Bar.
I remember the Piano Bar opening, shedman. It was quite nice when it opened. Don't know what it's like now.

I mistakenly believed I Love Snow was spending her time in Palma, not Palma Nova. The trip to Soller will take too much time from there by the time she's got into Palma to catch the train.
I last went couple of years ago and the Piano Bar was good then. The waiter/owner Carlos was the best. I can't say the same about the rest of Magaluf though. I don't think I will stay there again. Mallorca yes but not Magaluf.
