It costs "about £38 to £40". That's what I was told just now when I phoned Alpha Taxis in Luton for you ;-)

You could possibly negotiate a fixed price.
Taxi fares are AROUND £2 per mile generally ,in any part of the UK.

Thank you very much buenchico. Oh and everyone else. We went last year but drove from Ayrshire. The kids 6 and 3 were hyper going down and it was a surprising pleasant journey. The drive home was horrendous lol. I'm bored... Are we home yet...you get the drift. Its only about an hours flight and then a taxi . thought it was maybe the easy option
whilst there are flights to luton from glasgow, whether you can do a day trip depends on what day you pick.

mon-fri - ok, but the outbound flight goes at 07h00, so you need to be at the airport at stupid o clock, which makes it a long day.

saturday - the last flight back from luton is at 09h05, so not do-able.
sunday - first flight out is at 13h20 and although that's doable, the return doesn't get to glasgow until nealy 22h00, which you'd need to balance with getting the kids ready for school.

We would stay over night
........in which case, you may do better to hire a car, which would give you some flexibility when choosing a hotel.
