Holiday Insurance?

Hi Everyone.
I'm going to Mexico with the missus in May. We have been looking at Holiday Insurance. It ranges anywhere between £60-80 for the two of us depending on what cover we choose. This is online. However, my Mum (who is coming with us) believes you can get it much cheaper (about £8.00 each) by going into your Bank. I think she must of got very basic cover for that, but she insists the Bank manager told her that it covers everything you need. Anybody know about this? Or, do you think she is wrong. I for one, believe you get what you pay for. I want cover for everything.
Thank You.

Certainly seems to good to be true. Ask at your bank though, you never know ! Staysure have a good rep I believe.
Who do you (or your mum) bank with and how long are you going for?
I doubt very much anyone could get travel insurance for that price for the whole holiday especially as Mexico is outside Europe.

My mum banks with Barclays. We are going for two weeks.
I've got travel insurance as part of my house contents policy.
My current account covers me for free travel insurance. I'd have to check whether it would get me to Mexico, but an upgrade would probably be cheaper for me via that route than going online.

Maybe this is the type of arrangement your Mum has. Best to check with her bank rather than any other random bank.
£21 for cheapest cover from Barclays for a fit person born in the 1950s for 2 weeks to Mexico, including online discount. It won't be cheaper in the branch.
I think it may be £8 per month at the bank.
Some banks have accounts with monthly fees which give you holiday insurance as part of the deal.
Lordalex and I are just opening one right now as it is much cheaper for us to get insurance this way as we are both too old now for our previous policy which was , like sherradk's, included with our house insurance.
Look at the bank's website and it will give you details of the policy. The one we are going with looks just as good, if not better than our previous one.
I think your Mum has got it slightly wrong and agree with some previous suggestions. I expect this will be a perk of certain accounts. I get free worldwide travel insurance with my Barclays account.

Thank you everyone. I'm sure you are all right. I thought my mum must be wrong. I bet it is £8 per month as LadyAlex suggested. That must be it. I feel better now on spending just under £80 on full cover for both of us.
Thanks again.
