Well that's done then - now I can relax.

My only 'full-on' Christmas Dinner catering is prepped/cooked/eaten - and, imnvho, jolly good it was too. Visitors seem happy, so that's all that matters really.

It was (not deliberately, it just turned out that way) pretty much 'Aldi on a plate'.

The turkey was one of their Bronze (free-range) jobs - as good as I've eaten for a while - moist, tender and full of flavour. The veg were from their standard range (49p a kilo for sprouts - what's not to like?) and the chestnut stuffing balls were excellent.

As usual I over catered madly - good job I love 'leftovers' - but there was one thing that there was not enough of - the crispy bacon from on top of the turkey breast. I put a whole pack of 'specially selected' streaky onto the bird - double layered in places - and it was the thing that everyone just wanted more, more, more of.

Now relaxing with a double espresso and a small glass of spiced rum - wake me up on Boxing day please :)

Yep - I love cooking once I get going, but I'm happy when it's done :)
I haven't got to do anything. I will help with the washing up though :-)
I am just pondering my strategy for everything I have to prepare tomorrow. Quite daunting. Why oh why do I do it ? But there again, once I get into the groove, I love it !
I shall do the dinner begrudgingly, such a waste of time for just one meal (& Asda delivered un-peeled sprouts!!). I'm looking forward to Boxing Day tea, my favourite of the year.
OMG!Have I missed the main event? Most of my prep is in the freezer, oh dear
In just cleaning the oven in ntiipation of the big day, I'm also working out my prepping strategy and just know I'm going to forget to make the pav.

There was a moment when I had all four ovens, four gas rings and the microwave all going simultaneously - I felt like a juggler keeping all his balls in the air at once :)
Bllody hell, how many typos in my last answer, lol

We did ours on Sunday, it was delish.
OH gone away today until Sat. or Sun. so just me the dogs and scabby Tabby for the duration. Makes a change.
Ours was Waitrose and Tesco on a plate was excellent.
I collected my fresh turkey I ordered from butcher yesterday , brought it home and decided Christmas is only Thursday as days of the week go, rang local homeless shelter as my freezer is full of food I like, so they're collecting the turkey from me tomorrow (I cut the legs off and spread them out butterfly like off the bone and kept them in freezer-for a rainy day) so much talk of turkey I'm sick of it already
Well done dave.. glad you had a good time and well done for feeding the hoards. My lot are the same for the bacon wrapped around the turkey...

Beef for us on Christmas day, can't wait

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New year xxx
