tried that but it only showed local services
Looks like London(Paddington) to Bridgend then bus to Porthcawl. Spent many a holiday with relations in Bridgend with day trips to Porthcawl
You can also get a coach from Victoria Coach Station to Bridgend - National Express
Looking at it more closely, Cardiff may be a better place to switch to bus - it has more frequent trains from London than Bridgend and has a through bus to Porthcawl every half hour until mid-evening
Nearest rail station to Porthcawl is Pyle ( Bridgend ) then get a bus to Porthcawl
about 8 miles away.
if your journey starts from Watford (as your title suggests, rather than London) then National Express from Watford Junction station to Bridgend by changing at Heathrow (avoiding central London), every hour or so, journey under 6 hours.
Train or coach to Cardiff or Bridgend, then local bus to Porthcawl. Train will only be 2 hours, and the bus should be about 30 mins.
dzug2 has it !...Cardiff is definitely better than Bridgend.
