Where would the best exchange rate be given, here or there - going in September.
Would it be easier to take cash or travellers cheques?

travellers' cheques aren't that widely used these days. Mixture of cash and bank cards is probably best, but check that they've got ATMs where you're going.

Not all banks stock them (it's not supposed to be an exportable currency) so I'd buy them there.

Having been to Morrocco on holiday in 2010, we found that at that time there is no exchange facilities for Morrocan Dirham in this country, only changed in country.

The Dirham is only available in Morocco, and the import and export of the currency is limited to 1000Dh. Most of the main foreign currencies may be exchanged at a Bureau de Change in the airport or port upon arrival, at a bank or in most hotels, although smaller hotels in more remote areas may not be able to exchange large amounts at one time without prior notice. Most hotels will exchange at the same rate as the banks, and without charging commission. Exchanging money in the street is illegal, so travelers should look for official Bureaux de Change, identifiable by a golden sign. Travelers should be advised to keep the receipts of currency exchange, as these will be required for the conversion of Dirham back to foreign currency prior to departure; this rule is not always adhered to though.

My mate has just come back and you have to change your money up when your there and you must change any money back to sterling while your still out there as its illegal to bring there currency back to the UK.
Whilst it may be illegal (in Morroccan eyes) to bring currency back to the UK it is possible to both buy and sell it here at a few fairly respected outlets and you are not breaking any UK laws by doing so
So how come when my mate was at the airport in Morocco somebody in front of her was pulled to the side and had to hand over the money that they were going to bring back to this country?
Same as when I was in Tunisia..............you bought your currency there, and any left over I gave to the chambermaids otherwise it would have been confiscated at the airport.
Yes craft your right.
I usually have a few spare ducats or dollars or dirhams left at the end of a holiday, and nobody has ever demanded them back. Leaving them as a tip is okay, but I usually figure I might want to buy a last drink or sandwich at the airport, so I generally hang on to a few pounds' worth.

That is interesting to read about not being able to get the dirhams here, when I went into a currency shop last week, he said that I would have to give them a few days notice, but there would be no problem obtaining them for me.
Thank you for the answers,
