Thanks for your help - but ideally, I am looking for ONE map with river, canals and railway lines in one place ...... is there one?

Google maps, which is what I linked to, shows roads, railways, rivers and canals. I'm not sure what else you are looking fort.

Rojash I am looking for just what I asked for - a map showing rail, canal and rivers with main towns for reference and nothing else, no villages, landscape features etc Preferably showing all ok England on one large (poster size) page

Rojash if you have nothing helpful to add kindly say nothing at all! Which of "trainlines, canals and rivers with main towns pinpointed for reference" describes a google map full of villages, hamlets, small towns and the whole road network - everyone else seemed to understand I didn't want a google map, so perhaps you are the muddled one!!
