Can you wear hearing aids through security at an airport

My mother has just got two hearing aids and is flying to Tenerife next week and wonders if she will have to remove them at security, as you have to remove metal items like belts, coins etc, so will she have to remove them or can she just walk through with them still in her ears.

just mention them at the barrier, if they have to be removed they will tell her.

My daughter wears one, and has never had a problem, and never had to remove it.

I wear one and never had a problem yet.
I do have a propensity of setting the alarms off, although that existed before I wore hearing aids!!
