Chinese Visa

My brother moved out to China and I am thinking of surprising him by visiting, just wondered how long it takes to get a visa, wanting it like a.s.a.p. Anyone any ideas?

If I remember rightly, I did it (for my mum) in a day.
The system has recently been changed and outsourced from the Chinese Emabssy. Previously you did used to be able to get a visa in 24 hours. Express delivery is currently 3 working days - ie if in by 11am on Monday it will be ready on Wednesday.
My husband got his through the Chinese consulate in Manchester. Think it took about a week, though he had to make an appointment to go there.
yes you do need a visa for China. The type you need depends on whether you make one entry to the country or enter at various points as when on a cruise. Cost also varies on which country's passport you hold. Costs more for a British passport holder than for someone from other European countries, also a different price for USA paport holders
