has anyone ever driven from the uk down through africa to either kenya or somewhere where a ferry crosses over. i am considering it as an alternative to flying. alternatively how difficult is it driving down through africa. i heard egypt - sudan border is quite difficult?

a pretty weird alternative to flying - I'd guess 10 weeks instead of 10 hours, going through the odd war zone and the occasional desert. Adventure travel companies do it
