No definitely not . The child will have to have his or her own passport. Only hope is to go straight to the nearest passport office but you would still need birth certifate. Left it a bit late I would think.

No, as the following is an extract from http://
Please Note: All British Citizens aged 16 years and over require a ten-year passport and a five-year passport is required for those under the age of 16, including infants. Children: All children must now hold their own UK passport. Children under 18 travelling without an adult may require additional documentation. Please check with the relevant authority. |

Yes, he can book it without having those. Whether he'll be able to actually go without them is another matter ;-)

He may have a birth certificate for the child, anyone can apply for a copy at the register office the birth was registered at, you don't even need to be family to get it.

As a requirement for ALL passengers flying internationally in/out of UK, see here

I may be wrong, I haven't checked, but I thought when they brought the new rules in children as an addition to the parents' passport could stay like that until the adult passport ran out. Has the ex got that on his passport?

You still have to enter all the child's passport detail when you buy the place ticket, it's a requirement of Spanish law that they know the passport information of everyone flying into the country. It says on our 0n-line booking that they won't let you fly without recording this information in advance.

^ PS he can book the tickets but he'll still need to enter the passport info for every passenger, before they can fly.

i think maggoty was wondering if Ex was telling porkies when he said he'd booked as much as whether he'd actually be able to take his son abroad

he could have a passport for the child he is afterall their father!

You can book without a passport but you can't fly without it, and as others have said some countries have API requirements that mean if you don't produce the passport details a certain amount of time in advance of the flight you won't be able to fly anyway.
