Flying with Monarch

Morning, i have just booked our flights to Malaga and booked with the essentials pack which includes check in online, we were going to do this but prefer to check in when we get there, there is something called API which has to be filled out by law, does this only mean if we check in online or we have to fill it in even if we check in when we get there?

API..........advanced passenger information, must be filled in whatever method is used for checking in.
If you booked your tickets online I presume you registered with Monarch, login into your acount on their website, you may find an option to complete the relevant info there.
You must fill it in on-line, whether or not you are checking in on-line - go to your account and fill in it. They won't let you fly unless you have filled it in on-line, there's no facility to do all that at the check-in. They then match the passport you take with you, with the information you've already provided.

Oh ok, where on the passport is the document number?
Second page from the back (if your passport is more than a year or so old). Second page from the front if it`s newer. API can be filled in any time. It`s not for the check-in agent to identify you. The information is sent to the border agency at the country you`re going to so that they can see who`s coming and check for dodgy names on their database.

It says passport number but not document number on the top right, is that it?
Yes.

THANK YOU
Is there a special reason you want to check in at the airport? We always check in online and find the Monarch queue for baggage drop off is much shorter than the check in queue.
