Scotland

We are planning our holiday for 2009 already and have come up with the idea of touring scotland in a hired motorhome, for me, the wife & kids and the dog! ( i know we must be mad !!) Can anyone recommend any campsites etc and any advice on motorhomes .

Follow the coast from Mull of Kintyre to Cape Wrath. Or get a boat!

Join the camping and caravaning club

http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/

They have sites for motorhomes, caravans and tents all over the UK.

They are all of a high standard and you can trust any site that is under their name.

If you join they send you a book of all their sites.

Full marks to legend -more or less the itinerary I would've chosen and if the weather's good you won't be disappointed. One word of caution though - beware the midgies........!!!!!!! You might think of visiting Skye also - it's very beautiful

Well I have today just got back from there. I went Glasgow to Oban and stayed there for a few days. Then to Fort William, then Invergarry, then drove up through Glen Shiel to the Kyle, onto Kyleakin and up to Portree, then onto Staffin and Eig (and the scenery up there was truly breathtaking, and the weather absolutely glorious), then to Kylherea and saw the otters, 6 car ferry across to Glen Elg (near where Gavin Maxwell lived at Camusfearna) - although road not good for a motorhome(!), then back and up to Glen Coe, before dropping down to Crianlarich and back to Glasgow. Absolutely fantastic.
