Vitamin B - mozzy repelant?

Does anyone have any practical experience of the efficacy of taking vitamin B before you go on holiday to keep mosquitos (and other bitey insects?) away?

No, but the Avon Skin So Soft (Soft and Fresh fragrance) dry oil body spray, whilst not advertised as an insect repellent is fantastic at keeping the mozzies away. The summer before I used it I had 30 bites (all at once!), the summer I started using it I only had 3 or 4 bites all summer.

All bitey beasties love me, but I have found taking anti-histamine greatly reduces the number of bites I get.

Avon are now promoting Skin So Soft - the green one - as an aid to keep mossies away

I went to Florida once and was severely bitten on the legs ny mossies. My GP practice nurse suggested taking a Vit B tablet every day for a week prior to going and every day on holiday. I haven't been bitten since, but cannot honestly say whether it is the Vit B or just luck. I take them just in case it is the Vit B!

Thanks everybody. I am taking them at the mo, but just wondered if I was wasting my time. Seems not.

Absolutely works, I take them before and during and also take anti-histamine one week befor and during. i also use topical repellant as I have a bad reaction to the little blighters. Definite belt and braces approach but it works.

They do help but be careful if you are prone to yeast infections (thrush) A friend of mine had a bad time and had to stop taking vitamin B. Tropical repellants are best
