Anyone been to Eilat in Israel?

Im 24 and my friend (21) has asked me to go on holiday to Eilat with her in October. I've never been there before and wondered if it's safe and what is't like for shopping, food, and things to do. Thank you.

Eilat is your typical touristy type resort .........with machine gun totting Israliei army personal so very safe . Sun , sea & booze . what more could you want ? Apart that is for justice for the Palestinians but that's another thread I guess!?
