I love it when a plan comes together...of getting it right., I mean..UK entry got 5 points...yep just 5 points...1 point from Ireland, 1 point from Malta to which I mentioned both will give us points ( See threads above ), and 3 from San Marino.

Well done to Sweden....great catchy song.

So, Why is it we do so badly in this competition? Will we ever get back into the top 5? Is it all political voting? Will we be better off getting a really big name singing for us? Maybe Rita Ora or Jessie J?

We've already had Engelbert, Blue and Bonnie Tyler having a go....coming knowhere!

Good news is that at least I dont have to play that awful tune from the UK anymore....thank god for off switches on headphones.

Opinions will be greatly appreciated.....

hmmm i really liked our song this year. It just didn't seem to be performed very well live. The lady reminded me a bit of a tree - she barely moved!

Baddiel, Skinner and The Lightning Seeds (Not as the Official Entry though) - it's getting as bad as England winning the World Cup!

My opinion? Pack it in.
//..Is it all political voting ?//

You said it
Anyway who has ever had any sucess after winning ?

In the UK, Bucks Fizz did ok for themselves and Brotherhood Of Man in the 70's, Bazile

Just noticed, Buenchico predicted Top 3 for us this year.....ooops, sorry, Chris :-)
>>>who has ever had any sucess after winning ?

Yeah, whatever happened to groups like Abba or solo artists like Céline Dion? They were never heard of again, were they?
Hey chris - my comment was made with tongue firmly in cheek

What is it that every year seems to be a snub by voting countries to the UK? is it the songs being really tbat bad? Is it because of getting involved in conflicts? It's baffling as to just why the UK cant do better?
Sweden won with, I think, it was 365 points, so it was the song they voted for, and Russia, Belguim, Italy and Australia(?)...(.it's eurovision so cant figure that one out), all did well, and got points from countries apparently not connected politically, as well as neighbouring countries too.

If that was the case, we'll never get points from our nearest, France, now will we?

And for that brilliant comment, bednobs, you get ' best answer ' :-)....didn't see it Saturday, as out, but Mrs Bear said it was ' like watching a woman with piles gently shaking her tush, whilst obviously in discomfort'
attach a proposal about leaving Eurovision to the EU referendum?
thanks, that is a really good description. Her dress lit up at certain points in hte song, and she may well have been trying specifically not to move too much i suppose. She wasn't "traditional" pop/music artist physique either, but i like that - no need for everyone to be a stick :)

Good idea, jno :-)
Pleased I was away this year and missed the whole farce! It's about time that our licence fee wasn't wasted by the BBC for the ritual political humiliation.

I understand that Australia participated this year for the first time. Since when has Australia been part of the European Broadcasting Union, and when will the rest of the world be invited to join in?

Agreed there, twix........we seem to just embarrass ourselves further each year, and you can almost hear the world laughing at us. Sad.
I have said this before. Give Svejk a chance with a rousing rendition of "The Good Soldier". It worked well for Abba and "Super Trooper". I reckon we could restore our honour with Svejk's help. :-)
I love it when a plan comes together...of getting it right.,

You're brilliant, Yogi. Very well done!

Well, thank you Mr T ......I'm, of course, chuffed :-)

I could be psychic, you know

Or is that psychotic?
The UK don't take it seriously. It's massive here in Malta. All the pubs were packed. Was talking to a Swedish couple Saturday lunch time and they were so excited.
Perhaps I should listen to what we entered sometime. What next ? Same old same old. Someone will feel it's worth bothering with again next year, and the enthusiasts will tune in. For the rest it's a non-event, and has been ever since to stopped being about the song.
I haven't actually watched it since we got more than 4 channels....
