My partner and myself are looking to holiday for 2 weeks in Cyprus in May this year, can anyone please recommend a nice resort and hotel please at a reasonable price.
We are hoping for a nice 4/5 star all inclusive.
I will be celebrating my 50th on this holiday and my partner is 60, we aren't looking to go clubbing but do want a place that's gots some life, that's not to far out in the distance, has good food friendly staff and has reasonable entertainment

Thanks x

I live in Cyprus. Is there any particular area that you have in mind?

I have heard Pathos is nice isitjustme
Are you preferring Paphos or the Larnaca area - IMO Paphos is nicer...
On a lighter note, I think you will find that pathos is a feeling of sympathy or pity.
PAFOS, on the other hand, is a town on the south-west corner of Cyprus.
Protaras is lovely, beautiful beaches!
Fig Tree bay near Paralimni, Chrystalla hotel. Stayed there twice perfect. http://www.chrystallahotel.com.cy/
For me I would go for Annabelle's - understated elegance - they have a sister hotel next doorthe Almrya which is more the younger set, but one could use that, sign over bills etc and retire to the more peaceful hotel. It is also in the old part of the town.

Downside - all the Brits!
Since you say you are after a decent hotel, there are many good ones in Pafos (this is the Greek spelling), however it is what around that you have to watch out for. The area heading north up the coast all around the Tomb of the Kings looked pretty tacky to me the last time I went - somewhat akin to Blackpool. Fine is you want that sort of thing.
I think one is better off further up the coast, but then one is likely to need a hire car to get around.
Further north, the High St at Coral Bay is now completely spoiled. That isn't to say that there aren't good individual hotels there.
My personal preference is towards Polis, or one of the big hotels to the west of Ayia Napa (not the hot-house of youngsters it used to be).

Have met the Thanos family - friends of my agent in Nicosia who became a good friend....went to a Greek Othodox Easter that was an absolute blast, and they were there and stayed here and in Larnaca (on business -life is tough some times)
pizza,
If you want the Pafos area you could do a lot worse than the Avanti, I would reccommend it to anyone, having stayed there a lot. Check it out on TripAdvisor.
pizza,
You have stated a preference for the Pafos area, have you considered Limassol which is a much nicer city altogether?

Many thanks to all helping me on the path to Paphos/Pafos lol the links were great, hopefully decide and book this week.
Please let us know where and, if you so wish, why you have chosen. I hope that you enjoy our wonderful island.
where are you based then isitjustme...?

I used to come to Cyprus fairly regularly first to my agent in Nicosia, and then later onto Larnaca Refinery, negotiating for a service contract and then account managent with the Larnaca refinery....

Will do isitjustme and thanks again .
Crosswordfan,
In Ypsonas, Limassol.
I went to Limassol. Very nice...
Was that before the hoards of Russians arrived then? Even the property advertisements are tri-lingual around there now - Greek, English and Russian.
buildersmate,
You have a problem with Russians then? I find them to be OK , a bit dour, but then so are the Scots!
oi, the Scots are just fine thank you. A dry sense of humour is all :D
