Depends what you like. Where are you coming from?
May, is beautiful. What part of UK are you thinking of.?

jem
Depends what you like doing - it's possible to do so at any time of the year
Just make sure you pack an umbrella
And if you're coming in the winter make sure you pack your Hi Vis....the street lights are being turned off!!
What is your idea of "a nice vacation?"

If you are thinking of London,go after september when less crowds, if scenic scotland, between April and September,if you don.t want snow and heavy rain.Enjoy it
May is good for city visits. The last few years it has been dry and sunny in May without being hot. July tends to be wet and from mid-June to early September all the touristy places are packed with ... tourists.
The Lake District is beautiful, even in the rain.

I agree that May is a beautiful month.

Everything that might have closed for the winter has reopened by then but the visitor numbers are not as high as they are at the peak of the summer season. We often holiday here in the UK and try to do so in May or June.
Maybe he/she has already set off
If the weather is not a consideration, then there is no good or bad time to visit London as attractions are mostly open all year round.

July and August are the height of summer, although that is no guarantee of sun! These would also be the most expensive months and have the biggest crowds mainly because of the school holidays and the 'good' weather. Media URL: http://flybee.com/london

anytime there isn't a riot going on.
London is packed all year round now, a great place, but expensive as anything, and yes i do know, my home.
It really depends what you want to do. I live on the coast, we have a wonderful shoreline in the UK.

Try and come in between riots if you can.
