"my computer used to be 64bit but now its 32bit"
Presumably you mean that your OS used to be 64 bit but is now 32 bit.
You would make a lot more progress in fixing your problems if, instead of making wild guesses, you posted some pertinent info. Like what hardware you have, what you've been doing to the machine to get the error condition, etc.

rojash - yes thats what i meant and it isnt a wild guess - the machine says quite clearly on the front, on the sticker, it is 64bit....but in the properties it says its now 32bit.

what i mean is is that why the coprocessor isnt working now...?

i have a compaq presario f500, with windows 7....though it came pre installed with vista.

what other info in particular do you need?

i havent done anything to the machine, its just keeps getting sluggish, but it works

i do know i need to install more ram which i intend to do soon.

does the 64 and 32 thing matter much?

cheers
No. all it means is you had a 64bit version of Vista installed, you have now got a 32bit version of windows7 installed. to the average having a 32bit version of windows will make no difference (in fact in some situations it can make life easier)

You need to install the motherboard/chipset drivers for your computer but as you've not mentioned anything about what brand or model your computer is we can't really direct you in the correct direction to find them.

thanks chuck, but i did say in the second post i had a compaq presario f500... it says on the sticker its an AMD 64 Athlon x2 - is that enough info to find the drivers?

i did look once before for the drivers to correct this but didnt have much luck finding the right one

thanks
HP Compaq does not support Win7 on the Presario F500 i.e. does not offer drivers for that OS.
