transferring calender info from Nokia N96

Hi my phone broke at the weekend, the screen is cracked and nothing can be seen on it. I got a new phone and contacts and photos etc transferred to new phone with sim and memory card but the problem is getting my calender entries over to new phone. The guy in the shop said 'dead easy' and that I would just connect old phone to laptop do a back up and then transfer over my calender info onto the new phone. I cannot work out how to do that - I have nokia n series pc suit on my laptop, have plugged old phone in but don't know what to do now? I have managed this task previously going direct from phone to phone but struggling now - can anyone advise (not very technically minded!) thanks in advance
