Skype mobile problems

I've got the new 3 mobile S2 Skype phone and I've experienced twice now that it switches itself off. Admittedly the battery has been slightly low but not in the red. I then plug in the charger but I nothing happens. It doesn't say it's charging, nor can I switch it on.
I have to take the cover off, battery out and then reassemble before I get some life from it.

Has anyone else had any experiences like this?
