Right click on the wifi icon by the clock, click 'view available wireless networks'.
If there is a padlock and 'security enabled wireless network' it is secure

eh?im on vista and it doesnt show a padlock any other ideas??

it says local and internet when i run the pointer over it

did you have to enter a key or passphrase when you first connected to it?
If not then no it's not

yes - no there isn't a simple test - if it was simple it wouldn't be secure
