Negatives @ Slides to JPGs on PC

Could anyone advise me on buying a USB scanner or whatever to transfer my slides and negatives unto my PC.
I have been told there is no good ones out there yet but I am hoping. Thanks anyone who can help.

HP do a great USB scanner (550), pricey as it's 4 in 1. Fax/copier/scan/ansafone/printer (incl envelopes).

Flat-bed scanners with parallel ports are for free on Freecycle.org.uk.

Her's is not the same make, and I can't remember what make her's is, but if that is the sort of thing you want, I will ask her

theres plenty around.
all it is is a backlight and a decent high res scan FFS.
HP, Epson, Canon all make more than adequate scaners with built in neg/slide adaptors

I am planning to get a canon 8800 as this will handle negatives and slides including larger format(120/cut film) items. But if its only 35mm mounted slides or nmegatives there are several to choose from, generally the more you pay the higher the performance.
