Sorry, not sure if this was a technology or shopping question. Basically I'm after a laptop purely for displaying photos and avi clips. Do you think it's worth taking a punt on Ebay?

Impossible to say - eBay doesn't sell anything, millions of individuals and companies use eBay to sell.

Choose your seller very carefully and you could get a good deal.

Thanks Ethel. You took my question a bit too literal I think - obviously I know that Ebay itself doesn't sell stuff. Just putting out some feelers to see if anyone else has bought a laptop/pc and what their experiences were.

I have bought and sold a lot of expensive goods, and cheap tat, on eBay with very few problems.

If you are realistic in your expectations, choosy about the seller, then all should be fine.

I`ve only ever had one problem with a seller on ebay. I`ve never bought a laptop, but have bought a couple of desktops, both bargains and as good as, if not better than expected.
I think some of the best bargains can be had on refurbished goods as these are usually brand new shop returns, or maybe have a couple of scratches, even though they`ve never been used.

Somebody bought a cheap lappy on Ebay this last week and it had on it over 30,000 files from Charnwood Borough Council including benefit, bank and password files.....
