Viewing progress of an upload.

Is there any way to watch the progress of something you are uploading, for example, a video onto youtube where you can see the speed at which the upload is taking place or what stage it is at?

if you are runnng firefox, in Tools, click on Downloads, which should show you the stage things are at. not sure as regards internet explorer.
