blocking unwanted texts

Hi I hope you can help I am getting 3 texts a week from 88222 advising me of Wednesday, Saturday and the euromillions draw. I have not subscribed to it but am getting these texts (which I am being charged for) at all times of the night, the euromillions usually at 1.30am. I have texted back, stop, remove, please remove I dont not wish to receive but still I am getting them does anyone know of a way to stop these texts.

Thank you

Hi Jennymac :o)

Found this which I think will be of help to you in at least contacting someone to stop the texts. Looks like you can claim some money back but from her first post but may be tough getting a full refund.

Thanks wingnut

I am holiday in Greece since April and they have only started since we arrived and at first I thought it was because I do online lottery but when they started at 1.30am they became a nuisance, just checked with one of the sites recommended via your link and they have charged me £1.50 per text so that makes 32 calls @ £1.50 = £48 I am definitely going to get on to them for a refund. Scams like this should not be allowed and from the reply I got there is a website to complain to which is

www.phonepayplus.org.uk.

So if anyone is getting these texts go direct to them or to

01494 750 500 .

Sending stop or remove does not work and as well as receiving at £1.50 you are probably paying to send to them to stop as well but then still getting texts.
It seems the company behind this particular scam is called WIN so beware anybody wanting to subscribe to anything to do with this company

text "stop" to the number. i'm pretty sure a law was brought in where these text alerts had to stop texting and charging if you text the word stop to them

I have emailed 88222 and also to Phonepayplus, they are the ones to complain about unwanted texts or to complain about texts received. I decided to email rather than phone because I have proof of complaint being sent. It is now in their hands. I have since found out that to stop texts you must use Stop all" and it must be in capital letters. Well that is a scam in itself because who uses capitals in texting.

As soon as I know outcome I will let everyone interested know of the outcome so watch this space.

Hi Jennymac,

I have exactly the same problem with you. My mobile has been spammed with 88222 with some euromilions syndicate results & getting charged a hell of a lot for it! I don't even remember subscribing to it!!! First of all, I don't play any lottery.

I am with O2, I just received my bill yesterday and saw more than £20 charge for 15 texts!!!!! I called O2 today and complained. They cannot unblocked the texts, however they agreed to take off half the charge, and I was told to speak to a company called ITS 0800 500 212 to try to claim the rest.

Apparently ITS acts as a mediator between O2 and companies that generates 88222 texts and suppose to be able to help us. Unfortunately they are closed today, I'll call them after the bank holiday and if I have any luck, I'll let you know.

chhers unhappy, I contacted the contacts I was given the 88222 number replied that it wasw now stopped which it has but nothing since. They said to get in touch with 02 to see if they have records of my texts and I think it was phonepayplus never even acknowledged my email. I know have lost money but at least it will stop now. The awkward part for me is I am in Greece for the summer until November and the signals if any are terrible but it always seemed to come thru from 88222 but to ring out is terrible unless I am standing on the top of a mountain. It will be interesting to find out how you got on and I will see if anything can be done when I go back home.
