To uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar:
1. Click the Windows Start button in the lower left of your screen.
2. Select Control Panel.
3. Click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Scroll through the list of programs to find Yahoo! Toolbar, select it, and click Remove.

I did the same thing and got the Yahoo toolbar.
It suggests that both Yahoo and AVG have crossed the line into dishonest marketting practices.
Also note that AVG free does not protected against code injection in websites. You can still get a virus by visiting a website. Attacks against reputable sites have seen injections in sites that you would expect to be a problem.
These included United Nations and NBC servers.

You have to watch the install process of many programs nowdays as they often try to install another program or tool bar or whatever on during install.
I seem to remember even Shockwave tries to install the Google Toolbar during the install.

Thanks all for your advice but Yahoo toolbar is not listed in programs so that has not solved the problem. Any other suggestions running Vista ultimate. My hubby recently recommended to use Avast on his new laptop - is this a better idea?
