playstation connecting to tv

I've just dug out my old playstation 1, tried to use it on my tv and i can only get a fuzzy picture and no sound on channel 6, I only have a DVD no video, does anyone know how to set it up, please help

you may have to tune it into ch6 again, we had to do that with our daughters after she hadnt used it for ages.....or you may need to use the aux button on remote.

I've managed to get the picture ok, but theres only sound when the playstation is switched on, then there is no sounds when the game loads
