usb port

the very small white piece has come out of one of my usb port it is the one i use only for printing and camara downloading and web cam .it was inside the end of my camera cable. is this a big job i dont have another usb port to use but i could get one of these usb 3 or 4 port hubs as i dont want to be without computer over xmas if i have to leave it at shop. i only use this one for cam and printing perhaps that is what caused it to come out keeping swapping over. thanks for any replies.

Plugging the USB in and out alot probably doesnt do it any favours.

But does it still work?

Have you tried it?

your computer only has one USB in total?

If the port isn't working anymore, you need to get some new ports:

Then you can have both printer and camera cable plugged in all the time. And room for more! (these are USB2 btw, so you'll see a speed increase; your current port is probably USB1)

To Big D No that one usb connection does not work.put the bit back in but no contact thanks

To Fo3nix is it alright to buy one of these mini 4 port usb hubs i only need it for printer and cam then i can run it from one of the others at the back . i would keep the broadband one on its own.would like to know what i am going for so as not to feel stupid. thanks hope i have made this clear for you to answer

yes, that would be fine. But I was under the impression that your problem was with the usb port on the computer; hence it doesn't work any more, and a usb hub connected to that wouldnt be any good either. is this not the case?

if that usb port doesn't work, you need new ones (or use another one). if it works fine, just get a hub.

so you say that your broadband is connected by usb too? if so, you could buy a usb hub and connect your broadband and camera etc. all to that hub.
