sounds fishy to me ... have you checked to see if chrome is up to date?
Do not upload it. Go to the official chrome site for updates if any. Well spotted Tearing.

I think that I would firstly check if the pop up can be removed with an uninstall run, if you can spot it. I would then clear my history and certainly cache before running any further "help" programmes that promise to help. Clear history and do a reboot to see if it gets rid of the clingon.
i had similar with firefox needs x plugin blahblah, as normal i ignore
can to legit firefox to check, and guess what..no update
mm that sounded off, anyway always go to genuine site and look for anyupdates in any, as for firefox if you go to help top menu, scroll to about...it. will or should inform you of any update
Concerning. IIRC whilst one doesn't normally get a screen, browsers usually inform one of "urgent" updates without being prompted. I assumed the little messages bottom right was part of the Win 10 settings/update system.

Many thanks everyone. Scammers are so clever at copying logos to make things look genuine. I do wonder why they think they have a right to take our money/details etc., but I suppose that's a question for a Philosophy section.
Just be sure to back up everything regularly tearinghair so you don't lose anything to scammers
