Filmon App Alternative?

Could anyone suggest an alternative app to filmon which has now started to charge for use? My requirements are:
To be able to watch uk tv on my ipad while I am abroad in France.
Filmon was perfect - free and simple! but the charge they are now making is too much. I need something uncomplicated - just like Filmon was - basically downloading the app then away you go which will work in France. I have heard people talk about VPNs etc but I am just after something simple without getting too technical. Other people have suggested mobdro which apparently you can download from the website but I haven't been successful when I've tried to do this. Thank you so much for any suggestions.

Thanks for link Barney but I have an iPad so would this work in an iPad?
