Especially with BT emails. Is this the fault of Mozilla, if so is there another provider that is faster? I am not technical, thanks all!!

Microsoft Security Essentials has a bit of it which, quite reasonably, checks that the program is up to date. However that part of it has a nasty habit of getting 'stuck in a loop' meaning that it makes heavy demands on a computer and can slow some programs (particularly Firefox) to a crawl. So I'd definitely recommend using something else, with my own choice...

The most common cause of Firefox performing slowly is actually something else hogging most of a computer's resources, leaving insufficient for Firefox to do its job properly. The most common 'something else' (by far) is the updating part of an anti-virus program. So which security software are you using?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. If you think I should use something else, do I delete MSE Chris ?

So I'd definitely recommend using something else, with my own choice being Avast:

I recommend downloading the set-up file for Avast but, in the first instance, not actually running it. (Simply save it to 'Downloads' or similar). Next, uninstall MSE. Then RESTART your computer. (That's always advisable after uninstalling a program, as it flushes the registry). Lastly, run the Avast installation file.

Thank you so much... And should I stick with Mozilla?
^^^ I'm using Windows 7 with Avast and Firefox, so I think that my answer should be obvious ;-)
