My mothers hearing aids are buzzzing away - how it's not driving her mad I don't know.
She's 89 so needs something so simple - I just don't think she has got the hang of them - they are NHS ones
Can anyone recommend anything else

hi ric-ror - i'm wearing aids both NHS and privately bought - however now that NHS aids have gone digital, I much prefer them to my private ones. Far far superior. it is not the actual aid but her ear-mould is not probably shoved in further - this stops the buzzing/whistling - all aids will be like this - it is the mould.
Just get the hearing aid people she had it off to look at it. Whether they are NHS or private they will buzz if either not fitted right or the settings on them need to be altered.
OH's NHS hearing aids now buzz/whistle so loudly that I can hear them from the other side of the room. Thanks for the advice - just told him to shove them in further...... almost as bad as he was before right now (missing speech from me etc.). Thanks for advice.
Your mother may need new ear moulds. It locks the sound in the ear and then the volume on the aid is at a correct setting and no buzzing.

Your all right as the buzzing stops when she presses them further in
They even buzz when she's chewing
I have two NHS digital hearing aids. They are excellent. They need to be properly fitted, the moulds need to be inserted properly as far in as the will go. That will stop the buzzing. I will soon need to get mine changed as they buzz gently when I walk past a fuse box or meter etc. That means they are at the top limit of adjustment and will have to be replaced with the next model up next time I have an appointment.
All posts above are correct....it is probably a badly fitting mould ...go back to the Audiology Dept.
Thanks. Our problem solved by shoving aid more firmly in. :o)
