Does this make me odd in any way?
My missus left me 5yrs ago and I thought my world had ended, turned to the bottle, got in to a shed load of trouble with plod and ended up in a psych hospital (not suggesting that all this had to do with my missus leaving, just timeline of events). Not been entirley celibate during this time but the thought of been 'tied down' again is out of the question.
Just spent a pleasant few hours cycling with a friend, shared a bottle of vodka and now relaxing with the radio and the internet. just realised (despite problems with my son...discussed elswhere) that Im actually quiet happy living alone and content to be single.
Im now 50 and the thought of having to share my life actually horrifies me.
Does this make me selfish or odd?
Are you in similar circumstances?

Must admit tho that an occasional bit of rumpy pumpey wouldnt go amiss..

'Does this make me odd in any way?' is a very leading and subjective question. If your happy your happy.

Ps it's 'being' single.
Haha Nails, pick a lass with IT savvy as the next one. (^_*)
You're. Ha, people in glass houses"..........
ps zacs, it's "you're"
Lol @ Zacs. And no it doesn't make you odd at all.
It doesn't make you odd , especially if you're content with the life you have.

I became 'single' through being widowed so I don't relish it at all - I have simply learnt to live with it.

Just be happy Nailit and I hope your lad turns himself around.
Not odd at all. I've never lived alone.

I'm more agog at "shared a bottle of vodka"...that would put my lights out for the next few days!

Since my missus left me ...
Ive got more money in my pocket
Spend a hell of a lot more time with my friends
Joined a reading group
Formed a quiz team
Can do what I want
Sh** who I want
The list goes on...
Ive only just realised that Im actually quiet happy now.
Still feels a bit odd tho, society expects that people of my age should be 'settled down' by now.
If you are happy nailit then that's all that matters - enjoy
I'm single and have being for a few years now, I do enjoy the freedom and to some extent my own company (AB aside ;-) I wouldn't describe oneself as odd though just darn Weird... if I met the right lady I'd be more that happy to share my life... I flupped up in the past, I'd be more careful next time around. Every life is different.
Glad you're happy, nailit- that's what matters. I have always preferred being single for similar reasons to you. Just enjoy it x
Does it make you selfish? No, it makes you selective as to what you want from life. I'd be exactly the same at this stage in life if I wasn't already married. I can understand you not wanting to share your space. You've had the experience of both, now you are in a position to choose!

Thats interesting Eleena, So if you werent married you would be happy to be single and doing what you liked? Would that be better than being married?
