In theory it's as easy as you suggest. (Your phone number, together with your account balance will automatically be transferred to any SIM-free phone which you put you SIM card into). However a quick bit of googling shows that at least some of the Doro range of phones use mini SIMs so, if your existing phone has a standard SIM, it won't fit into your new one.

You can trim it down to fit .... if you dare !

Sim card trimmers are readily available.

thank you both very much. The phone I was looking at was a "mini" therefore guess it has a mini sim. Dare I? or foiled again.
When my old phone packed up I took my new Motorola into the local Vodophone shop. They just issued me with the new SIM, did something on the computer and, asked me to put it in the phone and wait an hour. I was also on PAYG.

We've recently changed from micro sim phones to nano sim phones. The normal sim cards were already indented so you could just break them off to the right size, no cutting needed

The only two current models that have 'mini' in their name appear to be the Liberto 820 Mini and the 820 Mini Claria (which is designed specifically for visually handicapped users). They both use micro SIMs.

Search for 'SIM cutter' on Amazon (ensuring that you read the product reviews) if you need to purchase a cutter. Or, possibly better, get the guy who runs the mobile phone stall in your local market to do the job for you!
