Garmin Satnav Failure

I have a Garmin 1410. First it lost all its maps though still gave some help eg actual speed. But now it's lost all its power too and won't boot up when plugged in to the computer or car. Anyone got any ideas about what to do next? Apart from dumping it of course.

From the manual: "Resetting Your nüvi: If your nüvi stops functioning, reset your nüvi by pressing and holding the Power button". Worth a try, perhaps? Sounds like you might need a new battery and a reload of the OS - however the new ones have very good features as well as often having free maps so maybe time for a change.
A good point, CAC. Unfortunately the battery is described as 'non-user-replaceable' (p.55). Perhaps a new fuse is required? (p.48):
