I Need A New Mobile But I'm Clueless

I need to be able to ring my best friend and chat for an 'hour'. Her OH has just insisted that they have the landline taken out.

I would ring her on the landline and it would cost me nothing. Now, I can only get hold of her on her mobile. I have a 'pay as you go' Samsung but I need a contract phone, I think. I don't know where to look or what to do.

I don't need all the gubbings that comes with phones. I just need to be able to ring her and chat, without worrying about the cost.

I feel as if I've lost her.

Any suggestions, please?

You don't need a contract. You can get very good pay as you go deals as long as you top up, say a tenner, every month. If you fail to top up, you lose the good stuff.

Have a look here:

On a virgin contract you can call people for nowt if they're with virgin.
Who is your landline provider?

I am with Talktalk, and I pay £7.50 a month for unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles. (as long as the calls are no more than an hour long)

You may find you can add calls to mobiles to your talk plan.
Probably a damn sight cheaper than calling her PAYG.
skype is free with wifi.
I'm with O2 PAYG. As long as I call after 6 pm it costs just 25p regardless of length.
bleary eyed?
Sorry Tilly, wrong post
Tilly, does she have a computer?
if you are both on facebook, you can video call [in private messages, there is a camera icon] if you're not on skype, you have wifi so why not download that or viber, if both of you have viber you can ring each other and talk day and night for free. I am clueless but the youngsters in my family set me up with all these on my phone, it's brilliant, I never use my landline now, I even have a smartphone, they are brilliant, took a while to get used to but i was adamant I was not getting a dora phone
I forgot to add, my phone is not a contract phone. PAYG all the way:}
What's a dora phone?
It's a phone for grannies. I wasn't having it
Why Dora?
My eighty five year old aunt has a Dora phone, she likes it !
It's just a phone that's always advertised here (in Ireland) for people who find using mobile phones difficult, it's easy to use, big numbers and if you have one, you just stand out a mile as a right tool that can't use a phone
The Skype option is the best. If you have a camera in your computer you can see each other as well. If not it will not be any different to a phone call. We talk to friends abroad regularly does not cost a penny.
Tonyav, my friend in her 80's has one, maybe when I'm just that few years caught up with her I will be happy to have one, I'm just not there yet
I see. You live and learn.
