Hiya Tony

didn't want to clog up Sammy's post, but here's some pictures of Betty being done on the garage's FB page if you're interested :-)

Would it not have been simpler just to buy a new Betty? A Bessie?

The outside looks nice - not sure how healthy its innards are!

Question Author
Well you can't buy them new anymore Wolfy, she's a classic.

I admit she's a wreak, but we bought her cheap (ish) and doing her up slowly, She'll be back to her former glory, and then some when she's finished, which is just as well really, as we'll have to live in her, lol.
Thanks B00. Some serious welding work done I see ( expensive to I bet ).
Well done Mr and Mrs B00, it would be good to see more pic's when Betty is back on the road.
Best of luck to you. Labour of love methinks.

Reminds me of Triggers broom, still original but has had 40 brush heads and 20 handles.
B00, those VW camper things were everywhere where I was a week or so ago.
Question Author
Yeah tony, shockingly expensive- but we knew it'd be a long haul job when we got her.

Inside Betty's not as bad believe it not wolfy, we've already had a weekend away in her in peeing down rain and she kept us warm, dry and comfy :-)
As long as she is going to be healthy, happy and appreciated. Camping is my idea of hell (will that word be zapped?) but my brother seems to enjoy it.

Question Author
She is Alice, we love her.

Were they rust buckets too tony? LOL
No B00, the ones that I saw had mainly been restored.
However I was lucky enough not to get behind any on the ( narrow ) roads of Cornwall ;-)
Question Author
hahaha!

We now don't mind, and find ourselves willing 'em up hills like "go arrrrn, you can do it!"
Any luck with the Subaru engine swap, B00 ?.
Question Author
No, that's gonna be a fair bit away yet. As I said, the welding and paint job cost enough (cough, 1700, cough), so having to save up some more for that.
Right, a future project then. Is it gonna be out of an Imprezza STI ?.
Question Author
I've no idea to be honest, it all sounded a bit too techy when Mr Boo was telling me, think my eyes partially glazed over so I missed part of the conversation regarding that.
LOL, B00 you've gotta take more notice of what Mr B00 tells ya You may be asked questions ;-)
Good afternoon B00......Hope the full restoration is really super.

Just in passing, I thought I would show you a collage that my niece did from torn pieces of paper.:-

I am refraining from giving any name for fear of breaking AB's rules, regarding advertising. However, I think it is reasonable to mention that she presented to the Prime Minister a collage which she created of the Houses of Parliament and her husband is a partner in a firm that manufacturs seat/beds for Camper vans.

Hans.
