We have SKY, but have an old box that doesnt record, we can also pick up freeview channels via the TV. I want to be able to record programs.

Im confused because the recorders all seem to incorporate freeview boxes too, and are any of them any good anyway?

If you are wondering, we dont want to get a new SKY box, as their prices seem to go up every six months as it is!

Contact Sky, say you are thinking of leaving, and say it is because you cant record programs or use On Demand to download programs. They will probably offer you a new Sky box for free. My brother had the same problem and rang Sky and they gave him a new Sky box for free.

Humax are always highly recommended. You can get them with two or more tuners so you can record more than one channel at a time
As a bare minimum your PVR (for that is what it is called) should have freeview. As you have a satellite dish you have the option of getting one with freesat as well.
I would also a new feature that has just been released called Freetime - this allows you to catch up on demand programmes from the last 7 days.

I quite like this one, shop around for price.

We contacted SKY and basically told them we wanted a new box for no money or we were off! They squirmed and wriggled for a while, but eventually gave in!

result!
