Main difference is the speed 802.11g is fast for most people just now.

Try www.webopedia.com

www.wikipedia.com

www.howstuffworks.com

they're just technical standards, thats all.

802.11 is often referred to as WiFi.

I believe 802.11b has a transfer rate of 12Mbps. the g standard has it set to 54Mbps. However, when you consider that the average broadband internet connection in the UK right now is probably 1Mbps, if doesn't make much difference currently (in terms of speed alone).

802.11b    11mbps

802.11b+  22mbps ( D-Link Only )

802.11g    54mbps

802.11g+  108mbps

802.11g+  Pre-N Series is supposed to run faster than standard g+ but I have yet to see this.
