Bought an ssd for Windows 8.1 Pro. Partitioned it and tried to install W8.1 and got this message.
Tried the 'format' from the W8.1 disk and that didn't help at all.

I have now reinstalled my old HDD with the SSD as a secondary drive.

How do I put it right so that I can install W8.1 on it?

Follow on q if you don't mind :)

I really don't want to migrate 8.1 from C to the new SSD drive H, I want to do a fresh install to H, change the boot order in the bios then when all is well, delete 8.1 from C.

If I do this with the current set up (both old C drive installed and new SSD) can you foresee any problems?
I can't see any major problems. All of the Windows native drivers will be on H, so Windows should be able to find them. However any non-native drivers (i.e. for anything such as any sound cards, video cards or peripherals which aren't 'plug & play') won't appear on H, so you'd need to reinstall them separately.
