I have had my printer for 3 years now and decided to update the drivers
via the website and installed the printer assistant so i could see my ink levels and do maintenance tasks too. My printer will not print now. It disappears after 10seconds in the printer window. If i go back to a restore point then the printer works but i then have no printer assistant. It seems that i cannot have both services.

forgot to mention my OS is windows starter 7

Try this site goldie. I sorted my printer out after updating to windows 8 using the hepp advice here. HP also have a good helplink.
