or any good as they are doing a good deal at the moment, and Vodophone/EE who I am with wont match it?

They seem to be 3G only. I'd want 4G
Talkmobile use the Vodafone network don't they ? In fact I think they bought them recently.

I only need it to send a few text, and calls now and again.

No need for videos etc, so 3G would be enough, just needed to know if there service is OK.

I'm unsure that is so. There was a merger between Orange and T-Mobile and EE was created to be the overseeing company; and the original names have gradually become merely brands. Now with BT wishing to buy back into the mobile market one wonders which if either of the brands will remain.
But that is getting off topic :-)
