Blackberry Playbook... Will Not Open

I have charged it but when I try and turn it on I get nothing. Then after keep trying the red light comes on for a few seconds and goes out. Sometimes it shows the blackberry playbook on the screen.. But doesn't go on and I have trouble to close it again.? would anyone know what I can do please? . Many thanks

maybe the battery or the charger is kaput.
