McAfee Antivirus have emailed me to say that they have renewed my subscription of £39.99 - I never said they could and I certainly don't want to pay that price. I looked in my bank account and at the moment they haven't taken it out but I suspect it will be out tomorrow.

It says in email if you want to cancel go into MY ACCOUNT (which I cannot find) anybody help me please.

I am covered until 20 June so that gives me time to figure how to get rid of it.

You may find that when you first signed up for it that deep down in the terms and conditions was a statement that you agree to take out an automatic renewal.

You may not have noticed it but it is probably there somewhere.

btw You say McAfee Anti Virus but I assume you mean McAfee Internet Security. You should not be paying anything JUST for anti virus.
Might your account details be in another email from them, check that.
Send them an e-mail back saying you dont wish for it to be renewed and you would like o cancel. Mention to them that you dont know how to get into 'my account ' hence that's why you are e-mailing....see what reply comes back.

thanks vhg for answering - the set the this whole computer up for me and he did the antivirus thing - then it was £9.99 - that is what I paid so he must have put the renewable thing in

I looked at the wee ICON mcAfee - and amongst other things

it is SUBSCRIPTION Active - but I know this will run out on 20 June - which give me time to get another antivirus. It is getting this one out so to speak
Question Author
the ^^^^^ computer guy set it up

by the way - mcafee sent me the email and said DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL

there is a thing somewhere that says many things and one of them says

deactivate this software - nearer the time shall I do that.
Yeah, that's a bind when that happens.....any tel no's you can try?........I would just un-install it and go for a free one, like avast or avg, that's just as good, if not better.
Question Author
Yeah Yogi Bear what do I do if they take the money - they have my account details from last year.
Question Author
Ihave answered myself - when it comes nearer to the time I will go into Control Panel then Programmes and UNINSTAL mcAfee.

Surely that should make it go away or would they still be able to take my money. Thanks
You have to ensure they dont take the money so thats why it is important to contact them somehow....a tel no maybe on your original e- mail when you first took it out.
Have a look...maybe something there
Question Author
think you have a point yogi - will have another nosey
Question Author
yogi - can you tell me where to go from here

You can cancel your subscription by turning auto-renew off from your My Account page. If you purchased a monthly subscription, canceling the monthly subscription will stop the recurring fee going forward, and you will have access to your subscription until your last payment expires. Canceling your monthly subscription will not retroactively refund subscription payments, and previously charged subscription fees cannot be pro-rated based on cancelation date. If you purchased a subscription of one year or longer and you are not satisfied with your McAfee software, you can request a full refund within 60 days of this renewal notice. I don't know where MY ACCOUNT IS
I'm trying to find you a link to McAfee customer service......one minute, conne ....back in a bit x
Click on the subscription Active box, then select 'manage subscription'. That should take you to a page where you need to log into your account. The problem with that is that you need to know your password but they will send reminders if you don't know it. Hope this helps.
http://service.mcafee.com/LocaleSelect.aspx?sg=CS&pt=1&st=CHAT

Which gives you a link to chat with a customer service assistant online

By phone 0800 028 7581 is their customer service tel no

Either one of them and give info of what you would like ( the renewal not to take place and no money taken out ) and they will hopefully sort it out for you. They may give a password to get into MY ACCOUNT and you can do it from there
Good luck, conne x

thanks to all you guys - to Yogi vhg mamy and knitty.

I followed knitty's advice and got through to the MY ACCOUNT - but it just brings up information about renewing - I am afraid to hit the button in case it automatically does. But I will look further into it as I do have some time. Thanks all.
